I know I don’t have the most perfect skin in the world but I have been there! I have been the victim of millions of pimples colonising my face. Okay, maybe not millions but pimples really do sprout here and there and everywhere especially when I was a third year college student fighting for my life for a degree in Physical Therapy. My face had its ups and downs but that didn’t stop me from looking for products that would really change my skincare game. I have learned that less is more. As you can see I don’t do a Korean Skincare routine or whatever. I realised you just don’t overdo things because it’s only going to make it worse. Trust me! I learned that the hard way.
Kung makaselfie! This is under natural lighting using my Sony A6000. I did tweak this photo a bit but only to emphasize my tan. I classify as morena and I have normal to oily skin. I am usually oily in my T-zone area and the sides of my face are usually problem-free areas. These days, the only areas that I break out are my forehead and my chin. Back in third year, I used to have a lot of small and medium ones on my cheeks but now they have been so far eradicated! Lol *I really hope so*
So okay, that was a long ass intro. Here are the products that I use.
Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water
I wear makeup during the day especially when I’m at duty so I use this too cleanse my face of all of the makeup gunk that has been sitting there for at least 8 hours.
Usually, I am tired at the end of the duty because we still have a class afterwards and when I don’t have the energy to wash my face, I just get a few cotton rounds, splash this onto it and wipe the worries away. So far, it works for me and I don’t get pimples the next day.
Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser
Holy grail since day one! This has been my cleanser since then and it has worked wonders for me. I have sensitive skin and this is just perfect for that. It doesn’t break me out. It doesn’t dry my skin. It doesn’t strip out the moisture. San ka pa? Cetaphil is life!
Garnier Skin naturals Pure Active Anti-Acne White Acne & Oil Clearing Scrub
I have been using this since I was in fourth year college, I think. I was looking for a scrub to wash my face with once a week and I found this. This is my second Garnier product in this list as you can see. I don’t know why I am “Hiyang” with Garnier products. Maybe because it is targeted for Asian skin? Idk. Lol. But I highly recommend this one and it has worked so far!
Rraw Tonics – Witch Hazel
I have discovered this one lately and I love love love it! This toner works wonders for me. If you have sensitive skin like mine, I recommend buying a gallon of this. Nothing worked for my acne better than witch hazel, I swear. I tried Tea Tree Oil in the past but it only irritated my skin and made me break out. I also used a dilute solution of apple cider vinegar and water and again, pimples started to pop out. This feels soothing to the skin and I love how it feels so calming too.
I checked out Healthy Options and it was pricey af! Butttttt, I got this from a local brand based in Iloilo City. They have more than jus tonics. They have butt scrubs, soaps, moisturisers etc. Plus, they’re eco-friendly and all natural! Check out their website here.
Human Nature Night Moisturizer
I use a night moisturizer because why not. Idk, I love the smell of this one too. It’s not runny or anything like that. It really absorbs in my skin well. I am actually still on the lookout for a holy grail moisturizer but so far this has worked for me.
SIDE NOTE: I use a sunscreen during the day. I use the Biore Watery Essence UV with 50 SPF and I like how it leaves my skin matte with a flawless finish.
PLUS A BONUS!!!!!!!!!!
Aztec Healing Clay + Apple Cider Vinegar
I discovered the healing powers of the aztec healing clay way before it got people lining up at Healthy Options. I read an article about this in 2016 and I immediately wanted to try it out since I needed a weekly mask to slab on my face. It did work for me and I have been recommending this combo ever since! I just mix a tablespoon of the powder and 1 1/2 tbsp of ACV and viola!
Disclaimer: We all have different skin types. These are the products that so far have worked for me. They may or may not work for you.
AND BTW THE MOST IMPORTANT TIP, DRINK LOTS OF WATER. I swear this has changed my skin too. I drink a lot of alcoholic beverages (but I’m not an alcoholic) and you know how it dries up your skin and blahblahblah, but I have been hydrating so much that no pimples appear on my face after a night of drinking. So hurrah for that!
Hope you guys find this helpful! If you have any questions, I’d gladly answer all of them.
Happy Easter, everyone!
